Let’s get creative about the future of the Gallery.

The Gallery is evolving. Between October 2022 and November 2023, the AGGV hosted several workshops, launched a public survey, and undertook comprehensive market research to gather information from the community about the future role of the Gallery.

From Nov 1 – Nov 14, 2023, we also hosted a free Public Open House at the Gallery interpreting the results of our comprehensive public engagement initiative. We listened to over 500 people from the community that responded, including AGGV members, donors, volunteers, AGGV staff and management, artists, arts administrators, educators, new Canadians and immigrants, members of the IBPOC community, members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and people living with disabilities.

In late 2023, we met with Indigenous Advisors and began planning further engagement with the Indigenous Community. In late April 2024, we hosted a day long community roundtable at the Songhees Wellness Centre, with over 20 local Indigenous artists, academics and others to begin a conversation about the Gallery from an Indigenous perspective. Engagement with the Indigenous community is ongoing.

We are pleased to share our new strategic plan, Together in Art, which reflects the feedback from the community and will inform the types of exhibitions and programs that we offer.

Thank you for helping to develop the vision for the Gallery and sharing what matters to you and the stories that we need to tell.
