ROBERTA SUTHERLAND: EARTH BIRTHING
February 5, 1987 - February 5, 1987Victoria artist Roberta Sutherland creates her mixed media works by layering paint, paper, and found fabrics, incorporating torn edges and calligraphic strokes which recall the random symmetry of nature.
A world traveller, Sutherland uses predominently earth tones combined with metallic colours. She attributes her appreciation of texture and natural pigments to the time she spent in Africa.
