Chris Lawless

Chris Lawless is a member of various community boards, including the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and the AGGV Foundation. He is chair of the Board of Cemetery Trustees of Greater Victoria, and the finance committee of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Vancouver Island.
Chris is executive in residence at the University of Victoria’s Gustavson School of Business. He is the former chief economist of the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (2001-2019) and the BC Ministry of Finance (1982-2001). He also served at the Library of Parliament as an economist and advisor to House of Commons and Senate committees.
Chris is president of the Pacific Northwest Regional Economic Conference, a director of the Canadian Association for Business Economics and the Association of Professional Economists of BC. He is also a member of the advisory board of the Border Policy Research Institute at Western Washington University.
Chris has an M.A. in economics from Carleton University, and holds the Certified Business Economist designation from the National Association for Business Economics.
