National Indigenous Peoples Day

Jun 21 | 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

In celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day, the Gallery is free and open to everyone on Saturday, June 21,  from 10am-5pm.

We lift our hands and extend our gratitude to the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples, the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, who have stewarded this territory from time immemorial, and on whose territory the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria resides. To learn more, please visit the Nations’ websites at https://www.songheesnation.ca/ and https://www.esquimaltnation.ca/.

Our current exhibitions include Lekwungen: Place to Smoke Herring, a film by Brianna Bear and Eli Hirtle, Meryl McMaster: Bloodline, Architectures of Protection, featuring artworks by Dana Claxton, Emilio Rojas, and France Trépanier, and A View From Here with works by Kelly Cannell, Terence Houle, Meryl McMaster, Kent Monkman, Michael Morris, Bill Reid, Dylan Thomas, and Hjalmer Wenstob, and the work Kiss the Sky by Chris Paul.

There are many exciting events happening across the Greater Victoria region for National Indigenous Peoples Day. We encourage you to check them out!
