The Immortal Garden
March 11, 2011 - March 11, 2011For thousands of years mankind has tried to overcome the transience of Nature’s most beautiful gift: flowers. The Immortal Garden explores the ways in which artists and craftsmen have translated the beauty of the garden into objects to delight the eye of the collector winter and summer, generation after generation. It will include rarely-seen objects from the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s permanent collection, including new acquisitions featuring contemporary work by local ceramic artists. Four hundred years of silver, glass, pottery, porcelain, textiles, and small furniture will attest to the immortality of the decorative arts garden.
