Louise is both a painter and sculptor. Her love for color and texture is reflected in her abstract paintings. The inspiration for these is drawn from her immediate environment, whether a walk by the beach or the Japanese maple in her backyard.
When wanting a change of pace, she turns to sculpture . The sculptures of figures are done in clay, fired, then painted with acrylics. Bronze or copper paint is incorporated to give a metallic patina. Her recent work is a series of seated figures interacting with each other.
Louise has studied at the Ontario College of Art and the Victoria College of Art. Since graduating from Victoria College of Art in 2003, Louise has shown at galleries in Victoria and Vancouver. She has won juror’s awards from the Federation of Canadian Artists, Sooke Art Show and Victoria Look Show.
