Through My Fathers Eyes: The Art of Richard Hunt
March 16, 2000 - March 16, 2000Richard Hunt?s astonishing accomplishments are seen in this historic first solo public exhibition. The exhibition features a dynamic range of the artist?s work in many media including masks, prints, jewellery and clothing.
Hunt is a member of the famous Kwa-Guilth family that includes his now deceased grandfather Mungo Martin and father Henry Hunt. He has received both the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia in recognition of his art and community service. He was the chief carver at the Royal BC Museum from 1974 to 1986, and his Intruder masks were a centrepiece of the impressive Vancouver Art Gallery exhibition Down from the Shimmering Sky.
