August 18, 2000 - August 18, 2000

The Drury Gallery features work by members of the Beaver Hall Women Painters, artists and long-time friends who met as students at the Art Association of Montr?al (now the Montr?al Museum of Fine Arts) between 1902 and 1924. Peers and colleagues of the Group of Seven, their lives and works have been enjoying renewed interest since being featured in Painting Friends: The Beaver Hall Women Painters (Vehicule Press, 1999), the first book-length study of their achievements. The AGGV collection features paintings and drawings by four of the ten women — Kathleen Morris, Lilias Torrence Newton, Sarah Robertson and Anne Savage — which are presented along with selected works by their contemporaries, including members of the Group of Seven.
