February 18, 2011 - February 18, 2011

A blend of garden imagery and music, this exhibition named in honour of the Roman goddess of flowers and springtime reflects an exploration of growth, fertility, and renewal in the life cycle as expressed in art throughout the centuries.Largely drawn from the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s historical collections, this thematic exhibition asks us to consider the symbolic and allegorical meanings of vegetation in art particularly as they relate to human existence and our struggle with mortality.

Flora is part of a larger exhibition program for spring 2011 in Victoria, the Garden City of Canada. Down The Garden Path is a contemporary exhibition featuring Scott McFarland, Mark Lewis, and Yedda Morrison exploring the idea of how we inhabit public and private spaces, such as gardens and parks.
