Artist Talk with Elly Smallwood

The talk will take place in front of Elly’s work in the Kerr Gallery, and will be moderated by Steven McNeil, AGGV Chief Curator & Director of Collections and Exhibitions.

Elly Smallwood is a visual artist based in Ottawa, Ontario and her work is featured in the exhibition, In the Flesh: the Nude in Art, Past and Present. A figurative and portrait painter, Elly studied at OCAD University in Toronto and has earned a massive following for her intimate, figurative work. Elly regularly leads painting classes abroad, most recently in Andalucia, Spain, and her work has been featured in a range of publications including Vice Magazine and exhibitions including Context Art Miami, an annual fair for emerging and midcareer artists. Please join us and hear Elly speak about her painting practice and what inspires her.
