This workshop explores the historical use of netsuke, as featured in the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s permanent collection exhibition, A View From Here: Reimagining the AGGV Collection. Participants will learn how netsuke were traditionally paired with Kumihimo, a Japanese cord-making technique essential in traditional Japanese dress. Attendees will weave multiple strands of thread into intricate designs, creating original braided cords with beads to take home and wear. Designed for all skill levels, this hands-on workshop connects participants to Japanese cultural heritage through creative expression.
