Public Open House: Symbiosis

Fascinations with the mushroom form and functions have shaped creative imaginations and scientific ideas for generations. Symbiosis gathers interdisciplinary contemporary artists located in British Columbia, across Canada and internationally who are exploring forest ecologies and musings about mushrooms.
11:00 AM – 12:30 PM – Symbiosis Panel Discussion

Chief Curator, Jaimie Isaac, and Guest Curator, Mel Granley, co-curators of the exhibition, will lead a panel discussion with artists who will chat about their work in the exhibition and their shared love of mushrooms!
1:30 PM – 2:30 PM – Symbiosis Curators Tour

Next up, co-curators Mel Granely and Jaimie Isaac invite you to join them in the Gallery. Artists and curators will be floating through the exhibition spaces to engage with visitors and answer questions.
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Mycelium Quadraphonic Sound Performance

Travel into the Mycelium Network with Nanotopia. Contemplate forest communication and fungi sentience during a live quadraphonic modular synthesis, bio-electrically guided by living Mycelium (Mushrooms!). Nanotopia (AKA interdisciplinary artists Tosca TerĂ¡n & Andrei Gravelle) construct soundscapes and installations involving biodata-streams of fungi, drawing awareness to the destruction of our oceans, breathable air, and shared environment.
And don’t forget to enjoy a hot beverage, because Queen Bee Farms will be onsite from 10am – 2pm.
