Calling All Artists!
The TD Art Gallery Paint-In is the largest summer arts festival on Vancouver Island, bringing Vancouver Island artists together in celebration of art. This beloved festival invites 40,000 visitors annually to explore and experience art along Moss Street.
The festival would not be possible without the participation of the Artists! We invite all artists to apply for a booth space at the festival, bringing the art gallery to the streets of Victoria!
We encourage emerging artists, students, and/or artists from diverse perspectives and communities to apply.
Application deadline: Monday, March 15, 2024
Festival Date: Saturday, July 20, 2024
Festival Duration: 11AM – 4PM

COMMUNITY BOOTHS
Please note that we have made the difficult decision to discontinue community booths at the Paint-In this year. Given the high volume of arts organizations applying for a free booth over the past couple of years, we cannot accommodate everyone due to space limitations. We have also found it increasingly difficult to choose participants because there are so many important arts focused organizations in our vibrant city worthy of participation. We will need to take some time to review our policies.
Therefore, we will solely focus on artist booths this year. We understand the impact that the Paint-In has on local artists making a living and so we will be committed to supporting individuals. We hope that arts and other community organizations alike will still join us on this day in celebration of the local art community.

Number of Artists Accepted: 160
Artist’s Participation Fee: $60.00 (due following acceptance)
Artist Booths: Artists are assigned a 10ft by 10ft booth space along Moss Street. Artists are expected to provide their own booth supplies, including; tables, tents, chairs, displays and/or more. As the Art Gallery Paint-In is a residential street festival, we are unable to provide connection to power, water and wi-fi.
Artist Engagement: To ensure a successful day, artists are encouraged to engage with the public during the festivities. Artist engagements can be live demonstrations, activities or more! Engagement is not required for your participation but highly encouraged to ensure a successful day for your artist booth.
The Art Gallery Paint-In is a community celebration of art. As festival organizers we would love to accommodate all community artists! Unfortunately, due to capacity, there are a limited number of booth spaces available and we are unable to accommodate all applicants to join the festivities.
The adjudication process is used to select the successful artists. All of those that are not initially accepted are placed on a waiting list and may be offered a booth space as they become available.
The adjudication process is anonymous.
Artists must reside (full-time or part-time) on Vancouver Island and/or the Gulf Islands.
Artwork must be ORIGINAL and created by the applicant.
Artists MUST submit 3 image that example 3 works. Images MUST be titled with ARTIST FIRST AND LAST NAME, ARTWORK TITLE, and YEAR OF PRODUCTION. For example: Jane Smith.Rain.2020
Collaborations are accepted. When submitting for multiple artists, enter your submission under one artist name and contact information. Add the other artists names under section ‘Artist Statement.’
Computer-generated artwork is acceptable, but must be entirely original and/or created from the artist’s original work.
Jewelry submissions are accepted with a limited number of available spaces (5%). In your application under Artist Statement, indicate what hand-fabricated materials are used in your practice.
The Art Gallery Paint-In is a community festival to support Victoria and Vancouver Island artists, we aim for 20% of the accepted artists to be a new artist to the festival, including emerging artists, students, and/or artists from diverse perspectives and communities.
All applicants are encouraged to contemplate a variety of factors around cultural appropriation, representation, and equitable and ethical collaboration processes, and to clearly position their work within its cultural context as required within their application.
The Paint-In is committed to creating a safe space and does not accept artworks with messaging or imagery that may be interpreted as hateful or discriminatory, in accordance with the British Columbia Human Rights Code.
