Membership FAQs

Why should I become a member?

Membership adds so much more to your Gallery experience, from unlimited admission, to exclusive events, there’s something for everyone. You can find a full list of our many membership benefits here

Why did the membership fees change?

Accessibility to art is always at the top of our minds. This increase is the first since 2009, and will ensure that we can continue to bring high-quality, informative and entertaining exhibitions and programs to your Gallery. Additionally, we’re pleased to share that this slight increase supports free admission to the Gallery for those 25 and under, ensuring that children and youth in our community are given the opportunity to access art without financial barriers.

Where does the cost of my membership go?

Thanks to our valued members, the AGGV is a place for everyone. Not only can you enjoy perks and exclusive deals, but your membership supports the vibrant arts and culture community here at the Gallery, throughout Greater Victoria, and beyond. It allows us to offer the engaging, relevant exhibitions and inventive programming we are known for.

Your membership also supports following:

What happened to Senior membership?

We want to focus on our members’ relationship to the Gallery, and our new membership structure does exactly that. We’ve organized our new membership categories based on how you want to be in engaged with the Gallery, and have moved away from age-based pricing.

I want a membership for the whole family…what should I choose?

Great news: Admission is now free for those 25 and under.  All you have to do is pick the membership level that suits you best, and the kids come for free!

I don’t want all the extra benefits, I just want to see the art.

The See Art pass might be perfect for you. It allows 1 person unlimited access to our exhibitions during regular gallery hours for 1 year from date of purchase. No bells and whistles – just unlimited art!

How will the new membership structure affect students?

As an initiative to offer more art accessibility to youth, we are now pleased to offer free admission to those 25 and under.  Due to this exciting update, our Fine Art Student Pass (FASP) will be discontinued as of January 31, 2024.  Any students over the age of 25 are encouraged to check out our See Art pass – we think it will be the perfect fit!

How does your See Art pass work?

The See Art pass allows you access to the Gallery for an entire year from date of purchase. It is a pared down pass for those who aren’t interested in additional Membership benefits, such as Gallery Shop and Art Rental and Sales discounts, voting rights at the AGM, and more. If you would like to upgrade your See Art pass to one of our memberships please contact our Membership Donor Services Coordinator, Tony Adams, and you can simply pay the difference between the See Art Pass and the membership that suits you best.

What if I want to upgrade my See Art pass or membership partway through the year?

No problem! Just get in touch with our Membership & Donor Services Coordinator, Tony Adams, and you can simply pay the difference between the See Art pass and the membership that suits you best (see contact info below).

How long does my membership last?

Your membership is valid for 1 year after the date of purchase.

How do I renew my membership?

You can easily renew your membership online, over the phone, or in person.  And we typically send you a heads-up about a week in advance of your membership expiring, so don’t worry about trying to remember.

I usually add a donation along with my membership…how do I do this now?

It’s now easier than ever to give: We’ve integrated our ‘Membership +’ donations directly into our higher membership levels. The Explore Art, Cultivate Art, and Foster Art membership levels include a tax receipt for an integrated donation within the membership cost. Check out these new and improved membership levels here

I want to donate to the Gallery but I don’t want a membership. How can I do that?

Thank you so much for getting involved! If you’d like to learn more about all the ways you can give back to your community by donating to the AGGV, just head over to our Donate page, or contact our Membership & Donor Services Coordinator, Tony Adams (see contact info below).

I can’t see myself fitting into your new rates, is there someone I can talk to?
