Studio Ceramics from the AGGV Collection

In the 1970s and 1980s, Victoria became an important centre for ceramics. Ceramic artists worked – and continue to work – throughout the city and the surrounding region. While the AGGV’s interest in pottery dates back to the institution’s early years, recent exhibitions such as Back to the Land and Life with Clay: Pottery & Sculpture by Jan and Helga Grove have inspired recent donations by local and national artists. These new acquisitions have re-invigorated our ceramics collection, and Throw, Slip, Spin invites exploration of both new surprises and old favourites.
