Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
December 10, 1999 - December 10, 1999Victoria is blessed with clement winter weather. This is not so elsewhere and, as a gentle reminder, our curators have selected a number of works from the permanent collection which depict the snow that so defines Canada?s winter season. More than 30 paintings and prints ? including a magnificent painting by W.P. Weston entitled Snow Rhythm ? comprise the exhibition. Weston, who was famous for his depictions of the British Columbia landscape, captures the quiet beauty of the deep snow in a forest. Also included in the exhibition are a number of winter landscapes as depicted in the exquisite colour wood block prints by W.J. Phillips.
