Drawings by Mimmo Paladino Inspired by the Poetry of P.K. Page

October 22, 1999 - October 22, 1999

The poems of P.K. Page have been an inspiration and delight for many decades. Page, who lives in Victoria, played an instrumental role in the modernist movement and is one of Canada’s leading literary figures. Her poetry moves seamlessly from the material world to the immaterial. She has served as inspiration to artists like Mimmo Paladino and to a wide public.

This exhibition provides a unique opportunity to investigate the world of the visual artist Mimmo Paladino and the poet P.K. Page. The juxtaposition of works by Paladino with the poems of Page produces an array of fragmented images wherein a final graphic unity is achieved and writing and painting become interchangeable.
