Asian Ceramics from Ancient Shipwrecks

The Art Gallery has a large number of ceramics which were recovered from ancient shipwrecks in Asia. 

Some of the shipwrecks include the Royal Nanhai wreck (sunk about 1450 carrying Thai ceramics), the Hoian wreck (sunk about 1500 carrying Vietnamese ceramics), the White Lion Dutch wreck (sunk 1613 carrying Chinese blue and white porcelains), the Vung Tau wreck (sunk about 1690 carrying Chinese blue and white porcelains), the Gotheborg wreck (sunk  in 1745 carrying Chinese porcelains), the Middleburg wreck (sunk 1781 carrying Chinese porcelains), the Geldermalsen (sunk in 1752 carrying a huge number of Chinese porcelains), the Tek Sing (known as the Chinese Titanic which sunk in 1822 with a huge loss of life and carrying many Chinese ceramics) as well as a few more wrecks.  Videos will be shown of some of the excavations and auction sales.
