DescriptionIn terms of style, this coat is rather similar to the semi-formal court coat represented on p 44 of John Vollmer's 5 Colours of the Universe. It is made of brown silk & embroidered with the 5 claw dragon motif in gold thread/ At the base is a border of stylized wave pattern (symbol of the water element) & mountain peaks (symbol of the earth element). Above is a pattern of clouds (symbol of the sky) & bats (representing happiness). The peony blossom is also interspersed among the other motifs (symbol of weath, love, beauty & the spring season); (terrestrial diagram);
