Descriptionrobe is made of brown silk woven with a hidden floral design; embroidered with motifs of peonies(symbol of wealth, love & beauty), butterflies(symbol of joy & summer), chrysanthemums(symbol of longevity & winter), orchid(emblem of love & beauty, & the citrus medica known as a Buddha's hand, which is a symbol of wealth; robe has a black silk border embroidered with blue flowers: plum, peony; lotus & orchid; black silk border on sleeve cuffs is embroidered with various auspicious symbols including the fungus of immortality (ling chih), symbols of the 4 fine arts: music(the lute), chess, books & painting scrolls, and conventional representations of sacrificial vessels, baskets of flowers etc, a lining of dull green silk woven with a hidden pattern of leaves
