DescriptionRobe is made of bright purple silk woven with a hidden floral pattern; embroidered throughout with auspicious symbols of flying phoenix(one of the 4 supernatural creatures); tree peonies(symbol of wealth); butterflies & melons(symbol of longevity & progeny); pomegranates (symbol of progeny); red coral & rectangular gold ornaments(2 of the 8 precious things, symbols of wealth & longevity); scrolls of books(symbol of good augury, being one of the 4 accomplishments of a gentleman) & various types of flowers including the emblems of the four seasons: plum(winter); peony(spring); lotus(summer)& chrysanthemum(autumn). Yellow embroidered silk border. Sleeves have 4 registers of silk borders, green, pink, blue & yellow. Red lining also points to the possibility of this being a bridal robe, red being the most festive colour.Status
