The best and most talented artists from all over the CRD (Capital Regional District) and further afield brought their studios to Moss St. on Saturday July 19th. The 27th Annual TD Art Gallery Paint-In was an amazing event with over 180 artists working on site from Fort St to Dallas Rd. The beautiful boulevards showcased the artists sculpting, carving and painting; there was even a life drawing-class in the middle of the street! Visitors were invited to sit down and try their hand; potters shared their wheels, print-makers their presses and everywhere artists shared their processes, tools and inspiration
The Gallery is proud of its strong relationship with TD as title sponsor of the event. TD returned with their Monster Murals at both ends of the street, inviting participants to add to these massive pieces throughout the day. Visitors enjoyed a visit to the Gallery by donation, where they took in a wide array of exciting exhibitions and wandered through the Spencer Mansion and the Asian Garden. The Paint-In also featured a Food & Beverage Garden with an exciting performance from KUMBIA.
The TD Art Gallery Paint-In is the Gallery’s most ambitious educational outreach initiative and fund-raiser in support of our educational programs, which reach in excess of 10,000 students annually through programs like Gallery in the Schools, New Extreme, StreetSmart and Open Door Access to Art.
The Gallery acknowledges with great pride the steadfast community partnerships that enable us to present this event each year. The leadership of our sponsors, partners and over 200 volunteers enables visitors to meet an extraordinary line-up of artists. The Gallery salutes them all for their support, and gratefully thanks our Moss Street neighbors for hosting the event from their beautiful front gardens.
