*Are you a Member of the Gallery? Enjoy early access to ticket sales for Urbanite on Oct 4 at noon sharp HERE!
Join us as we explore the imaginative world inspired by featured exhibitions It's in the Making & Carol Sawyer: The Natalie Brettschneider Archive. Meet the artists from It's In the Making, and enjoy immersive hands on activities, dancing, cocktails by Little Jumbo and a performance and visuals by Silver Jackson (Nicholas Galanin and Zak Wass).
In the spirit of these two exhibitions, there is plenty of inspiration to choose from to create a playful look for the evening. Take those crafting skills and think DIY fashion (crazy crochet ties and genre blurring styles). Think tactile, architectural and avante-garde. *Please, no masks. Check out some ideas here.
It began with a concept to present art in a new, exciting and engaging way! What resulted was an event that surpassed our expectations and continues to grow with each occurence! People young (but not too young, after all, there are cocktails!) and old have quickly embraced this phenomenon so far out of the ordinary it's never coming back! URBANITE is one of Victoria's most unique events, and one that you won't soon forget. As part of the Gallery's adult programming, every part of the evening is inspired by our current exhibitions. Experience art through custom cocktails, exhibition tours, slightly twisted visuals, live local music and hands-on activities. Held 3 times a year, URBANITE invites you to get a little crazy and forget everything you were taught about art.
