I arrived at AGGV as a volunteer in the Education Department and spent one morning every week for the two years volunteering at the Gallery just dreaming of how I could get here on a permanent basis!
I’d been a lot of things in previous lives – artist, educator, business consultant, interior designer. I’d also previously earned a Masters of Art in Leadership with expertise/specialty in Leading Creative Projects and was looking for a way to weave all those incredible experiences together.
A couple years later I landed my perfect job… leading the art rental & sales program and a couple years after that an amazing thing happened. I also was given the role as artist liaison for Victoria’s most loved cultural event – The TD Art Gallery Paint-In! Then, in April 2016, I was invited to take on the position of Education Coordinator! I get to keep the Paint-In role.
All day long I manage the bits and pieces of coordinating the exhibition and school tours, meeting with curators to assist with programming and making sure that I still get 180 artists out on the street for Victoria’s most loved arts event!
Outside of work I am just as busy. Running, swimming, cycling, and keeping up with an adult son in Australia and another in Vancouver. I am also an artist – and now that I am not surrounded by hundreds of paintings on a daily basis, I intend to paint more!
