DescriptionElaborate candlestick holder has a single standing boy figure with 'bocage' (a leafy or flowering background) which here is dense. Modelled flowers & foliage on a rococo style base. The boy's moulded clothing is painted in pale pink, blue, yellow & orange, each shoe is trimmed with a moulded flower, His face (eg. cheeks) have some colour, his hat has a simple gilt design. There is also restrained gilt decoration highlighting the moulded scroll-work on the base. The boy carries individually modelled flowers in his raised apron. The stem of the tulip-shaped porcelain holder fits into the pierced, flat end of a projecting branch near base, to left of boy figure. (Holder has yellow half closed petals, roughly painted with orange trim, green leaves at the head of stem, white glazed interior.Status
