DescriptionThe ronin, who are on their way to their master's grave, are stopped by a hatamoto (feudatory), who does not allow them to cross the Sumida River by the Ryogoku Bridge. The news has spread to their deed & the feudal lord, whose province the ronin wish to enter, is fearful he may be accused of harbouring murders, so he sends a hatamoto to turn them away. The ronin are forced to use another bridge. (Act XI)Status
