Sunday Lecture Series with Dr. Mato
Dr. Daniel Mato is returning to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria for his popular Sunday Art Lectures Series, presented by the Gallery Associates. Dr. Daniel Mato is Professor Emeritus of Art History, Faculty of Arts, University of Calgary, and the lectures are a perennial sell-out so get your ticket!
Sunday, Feb 11 at 2pm – 4pm
“Revolutions Within the Revolution”
Early Russian Modern Art
This lecture focuses on work that was hidden for generations, only emerging in the recent past to be recognized and honoured in the artists’ homeland. A collection of seven original works will be displayed.
Sunday, March 4 at 2pm – 4pm
“Miro and Surrealism—Poetry Made Visible—Images Given Voice”
The lecture addresses Miro’s relationship with Surrealist visual artists and writers. There will be a diverse range of impressive Miro prints on display.
The Sunday Lecture Series is a fundraiser organized by the Gallery Associates in support of the Gallery. Proceeds go toward supporting Gallery exhibitions and programs. The Associates of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria volunteer, promote and support the Gallery through fundraising events and programs.
Tickets for each lecture cost $30 for Gallery members/students; $35 for non-members and are available at the Visitor Services desk at the Gallery and online below.
