Carmen Mongeau

Carmen was born in Canada and currently works in her home studio on
Vancouver Island, British Columbia. After a long and successful career with a
major Corporation, she re-directed her focus to art with formal studies at the
Ontario College of Art and Design. She is a contemporary abstract painter and
printmaker and has had an art practice for twenty-five years.
The majority of Carmen’s career has been in non-objective painting. However, her
work took a significant turn recently and she is now deeply immersed in
printmaking. The slow, meditative process of printmaking contrasts strongly
with the immediate, intuitive process of painting.
Carmen is a member of Experimental Abstract Artists and an Active member of
The Federation of Canadian Artists. She regularly exhibits her work through solo
exhibitions and various Juried Art Shows in the Province. Carmen is represented
by The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, The Gallery at Mattick’s, The Nanaimo
Art Gallery, The Waterfront Gallery and several commercial galleries in the
Carmen is a recipient of several merit awards. Her work is held in numerous
private collections in Canada, USA, Japan, Sweden and New Zealand.

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.
Art is knowing which ones to keep.
