William Percy WestonCanadian, 1879 - 1967

Weston was born in London England but came to Vancouver in 1909 where he taught art at High School until 1946. While initially he approached the landscape from, a British stylistic point of view, he soon responded to the unique qualities of British Columbia, interpreting them as heroic and full of energy. For the most part he did not include the human element, finding it inconsequential in comparison to the gigantic presence of the mountains and trees.
