BiographyA prominent Canadian painter, draftsman, muralist, designer, sculptor, printmaker and educator, Lionel Thomas (aka: Lionel Arthur John Thomas) was born in Toronto, Ontario and died in Sechelt, British Columbia (about 42 miles by ferry and highway north of Vancouver). He was best known for the numerous artworks he, and frequently in collaboration with his wife Patricia (nee Simmons b.1919, m.1940), created to adorn architectural landmarks in Vancouver and elsewhere. He also taught for almost four decades at two important Canadian schools, first at the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art + Design) and then at the University of British Columbia.Person TypeIndividual
