Active LocationBritish Columbia, Canada
Biographyb. Bury St. Edmunds; moved to Canada, 1947, settled in Campbell River; d. Victoria Dec. 21, 1992 // English born, Andrews emigrated to Campbell River BC in 1947. She was influenced by her teacher in England Claude Flight at the Grosvener School in London. He was very interested in Italian futurism and worked with linocut for its lack of tradition behind it, feeling that it was more open to experimentation with modernism. For these reasons Andrews followed suit and also adopted linocut prints as her media of choice//
She moved to Canada after the war and not able to start printmaking again until 1951, spending most of her time teaching art. Andrews is considered one of Canada's most significant printmakers of the 20th century.
