DescriptionThe jacket is made of a pale blue silk, woven with a hidden design of the 8 Buddhist Treasures. It opens down the middle in the front. An identical, embroidered panel appears on both the left & the right sides; in the centre is a large pot of peony(symbol of spring, wealth, beauty, love), surrounded by flowers of the other three seasons: lotus(symbol of summer & joy), chrysanthemum(symbol of autumn & joviality) & plum(symbol of winter & longevity). There are also bowls of pomegranates(symbol of progeny) & Buddha's hand(symbol of wealth). To the top, bottom, left & right of the central peony are 4 of the 8 Precious Things: gold ingot, gold rectangular ornament(fang-sheng), rolls of tribute silk shown as scrolls & the ji-i sceptre. The jacket has a black silk border embroidered with motifs of flowers & some of the 8 Precious Things.Status
