DescriptionThe coat is made of pale blue silk woven with a design of mystic knots. It has a white silk border as well as sleeve cuffs. The border is decorated with embroidered figures in a landscape setting with flowers of the 4 seasons: peony; orchid; chrysanthemum & plum; fancy rocks, butterflies, pavilions, balustrades, boats & clouds. Many of the figures appear to be youths or children holding baskets of fruits & vegetables including bamboo shoots(see remarks) & peaches(symbols of immortality). The sleeve cuffs are decorated with embroidery of various flowers & butterflies (symbol of joy & summer)Status
