DescriptionInterlaced panels in black lacquer covered metal, form the chest and back portions, with horizontal toothed sections in the central areas and moulded sections around the edges Toothed sections are interlaced with a predominantly blue cord. Shoulder sections are separate with hinges and toggles. There are six lower sections of interlaced metal toothed panels, three panels in front and three in back, hanging from cords attached to the upper armour. Armour is open down the right proper side.There is a brass medallion (mons), attached to chest at top centre; brass detail with mons, loop and attached cord with two tassels on chest at top right proper; brass detail with mons and loop, at centre back; loop of cord with brass section at waist at proper right. A hinged black metal attachment with square centre section is at top back for accommodation of sashimono while the enclosed rectangular lower section has become detached from the armour. There are horn toggles at the shoulders and leather covering the interior.
