DescriptionThis image depicts three individuals demonstrating a new low bow, as part of a Japanese greeting ceremony. The young man wears a topknot of the Samurai class. He also carried the traditional pair of swords. One can be seen on the floor, and the other tucked into his belt. The long sleeves on the girl's kimonos indicate that they are young single women. This is a studio photograph. The background is a painting of a traditional Japanese room with a tokenomo and moveable screens.
