DescriptionWoodblock print illustrating couples from different countries in their national dress. In the center, the Meiji Emperor stands behind the Empress who sits in a chair holding a fan and wearing a crown. From left, the countries represented include America, Russia, Africa, Arabia, China, Japan, Britian, India, Korea, and France. At bottom right, a French man in military uniform sits on a chair, his wife dressed in a long purple dress with a full skirt with red ruffled at the collar, sleeves and hem. In the left panel the Russian man has a thick beard and wears a double-breasted green coat trimmed with fur and a fur hat. His wife arms her hands in a fur muff.
