DescriptionTwo panels of a triptych displaying a view of the modern Tsukiji Hotel in Tokyo, built by the Meiji government in 1868 to house foreign visitors. This interesting viewpoint looks down at the complex and surrounding streets, with the fence and the inner wall surrounding the hotel and its courtyard at right. The area bustles with activity, with laborers piling supplies near the wall and transferring them into the hotel. Shops line the streets at left with foreigners strolling along the road. A flag with a red horse on it flies above a stables, and a few animals can be seen inside the structure. Several large ships can be seen in the harbor beyond.
