DescriptionTriptych depicting a battle during the Sino-Japanese War. Meiji Imperial troops have cornered the Chinese against a castle wall, fighting hand to hand with swords and spears. Soldiers at the rear fire a volley of shots, sending bullets streaking across the sky and clouds of smoke billowing into the air, obscuring much of the fighting. Several Japanese officers can be seen on horseback, and two large flags fly at right.Status
