DescriptionPrint depicts a samurai Endo Musha Morito preparing to attack what he believes to be the husband of his beloved, Kesa Gozen. Endo becomes obsessed with Kesa Gozen, a happily married woman who rejected his advances. Afraid that Endo may harm her husband, she convinces Endo to murder her husband one night in her bedroom. She then cut off her hair and took her husbands place in the dark bedroom, and Endo murders her by mistake. In this print, Endo is depicted straddling the bed, as Kesa Gozen clasps her hands in prayer under the sheets, biting her handkerchief to stifle her cries.Status
