DescriptionScene of women gathered in a palace interior, sewing. At right, a beauty measures out a length of cloth with a wooden ruler, smiling as she looks up at a companion holding an elegant blue kimono. In the center, three women work with needles and thread as they sit next to sewing chests, with two younger girls sewing on their own projects to the left. Above them in another room, a woman irons a kimono flat using a long-handled pan filled with hot coals. The rooms open onto a lovely garden with a lake framed by blossoming cherry trees. Small insets above show pattern layouts with instructions for various garments. A handsome design filled with lively colour and wonderful detail, such as the small child dangling a ball above a playful cat.
