DescriptionOblong opium box with champered corners (eight sided) has two separate lidded compartments. Top compartment has a long sleeve with a space in the bottom to accommodate a second plain lidded box. Top lid has a large ancient pu coin design enamelled in turquoise. The outer body/sleeve is decorated in high relief with items from the scholar's desk, including censers and flower vases, within elaborate scrolling frames, all with enamels in turquoise and deep blue. A lower band on the body and lid have various flowerpots, vases and teapots in high relief with enamel in shades of blue.Status
