There are two inscriptions in red handwriting below: "We printed Rheims Cathedral for another purpose and found a stray proof, crumpled up, blowing about in the yard, turning over and over in the wind" "A building massive as a towereing rock reduced to butterfly frailty, something to be crumpled up or flattened out in the the hand, had become an absurd structural paradox A CRUMPLED CATHEDRAL!"
