DescriptionThis small study depicts an episode in the life of Hercules. Hercules identified by the skin of the Nemean lion (gained in the first of his Twelve Labours) fights the centaur Nessus. The subject seems to be a variation of the traditional story where Hercules kills Nessus with an arrow.
