DescriptionOval box is of silver, gilt silver and enamel. Top has a fine low relief carved design of a scholar diverting himself by playing with a large cat-like creature, a low table with lamp and open book to one side. There is some partial gilt against a whitish enamel ground. Top and bottom borders in incised key-fret worked in gilt. The body is in low relief designs of dramatic scenes from an opera with accents in green enamel and gilt against a whitish enamel ground.Status
