Descriptiona beggar's rendevous, the Noah's Ark, in the cellars of St. Gilles. Billy Waters, the black fiddler, is King of the Beggars. He was succeeded by the dwarf in the top hat, Jemmy, ie Andrew Whiston; this print represents beggars as living well & as a result, the fiddler Billy Waters was unable to make a living after its publication. This is the first recorded use of the word - slums.
