The Associates
Since 1953 the Associates of the AGGV have supported the Gallery by raising funds for and promoting interest in the Gallery and its broader artistic community.
Benefits of membership in the Gallery Associates include:
- Monthly meetings with presentations and lectures relating to the arts. (2nd Friday of the month @ 10am. Click here to check the calendar for upcoming meetings)
- Visits to artists’ studios and galleries
- Subscription to a monthly newsletter

Opportunities to volunteer at friendly fund raising events, including:
- Annual House Tour
- Art Tours (Upcoming Tours: Exotic South East Asia)
- Bi-annual Lecture Series on Design
- Bi-annual fashion show Art Attire ‘celebrating wearable art’
- Government House coat check

In the early years, funds raised were primarily donated to the Gallery for the acquisition of art, with the emphasis shifting to sponsorship of exhibitions about twenty years ago. The Associates have also supported children’s art programs, and supplied funds for Gallery capital improvements on many occasions over the years. Currently, the Associates are funding Emily Carr: On the Edge of Nowhere. Celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2012-13, the Gallery Associates are proud of their accomplishments, having contributed almost $750,000 to the Gallery since their inception. A booklet, detailing 60 years of fund raising, is in preparation currently (See Preview 1 / Preview 2).
