Umberto OnganiaItalian, 1867 - 1942

Umberto Ongania (Venice 1867-1942) was an Italian painter, mainly of his native city. He painted both

watercolors and oils. He exhibited in 1887 at Venice, La Porta della Carta, and in 1888 at Bologna, Il

Palazzo Ducale di Venezia. He continued to paint until the first decades of the twentieth century. He lent

several illustrations to be used in the monumental picture book on the Basilica San Marco. These two

works are a bit out of the cope of our collection focus however I think they could be used in maritime

based exhibitions, or shows about Europe. The style is typical of Italian painting of the era.
