Joseph PennellAmerican, 1860 - 1926

Joseph Pennell was born in Philadelphia and studied there before travelling to Europe where he made his home in London like his friend James McNeill Whistler. He produced books and illustrations but made his name as a master etcher and lithographer. Pennell was a key figure in the 19th century Etching revival.
