Benjamin Lauder Nicholson, OM (Buckinghamshire 1894 – London 1982) was an English painter of

abstract compositions (sometimes in low relief), landscape and still-life. He is a relatively important

English artist who was influenced by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth whom he was married to for

13 years. He was recognized in his lifetime, having solo shows at the Tate as well as winning many prizes

for his paintings. We have one work in the collection and there are about 50 other examples in other

Canadian public collections, most of them are with the NGC.
