David Milne is one of the most significant Canadian artists of the 20th century. His work represents an early departure for Canadians working within modernist principles. He was the only Canadian artist to exhibit in the famous Armory Show of 1913. Working in New York in the early decades of the century he was one of the few Canadians to be recognized international at that time.
